# Workers static assets config for this static Astro site

`wrangler.jsonc` is the config dry-run against the shipmunks.dev build on October 31, 2026. Nothing was deployed. Nobody logged in to Cloudflare.

Copy it to the project root only when that project is ready to build on Workers. Leave it out of the root while Cloudflare Pages still builds the site. The migrate guide says the Wrangler file belongs in the project root, and a root file is what Pages would read. This copy stays under `public/templates/` so the live Pages build does not see it.

What the fields are for:

- `name` is `shipmunks`, the same name as the Pages project. A real deploy would target a Worker of that name. This file was not deployed.
- `compatibility_date` is the day of the dry run.
- `assets.directory` is `./dist`, the Astro output.
- `not_found_handling` is `404-page`, so a missing path serves the nearest `404.html`.
- `html_handling` is `auto-trailing-slash`. Folder `index.html` files are served with a trailing slash. This site sets `trailingSlash` to always.
- There is no `main` script. The Workers best practices page says a purely static site does not need one.

From the project root, after the site has been built into `dist`:

```sh
npx wrangler deploy --dry-run
```

The Wrangler version, the dist file count, the total size, the largest file, and the command output are in the post [Cloudflare Workers vs Pages](https://shipmunks.dev/blog/cloudflare-workers-vs-pages/). A rerun will not match those bytes if the site has changed.
